Care Instructions.

The artwork you purchased is one of a kind and will hopefully be enjoyed for many years to come. Here are some helpful tips to help preserve your drawing or painting.

Pencil Drawings

When handling your pencil drawing please remember that it will be prone to smudging. It is best to get it framed as soon as possible. Please avoid touching the drawing and try to leave it in the plastic sleeve until framing. Avoid hanging the drawing in areas with high humidity or heat, such as a bathroom, or areas that are exposed to direct sunlight to avoid fading from UV exposure.

Materials used in framing, such as mats or tape should be acid free to help prevent the paper degrading over time.

Acrylic Paintings

Acrylic paintings can gather dust quite quickly. Gently dust your painting regularly with a soft, dry brush. Avoid stiff brushes as this can damage the surface of the painting. Compressed air can also be used to remove dust. Do not use harsh chemicals or solvents to clean the surface. It is best to avoid any liquid, even water.

Avoid hanging in areas with high heat, humidity, or direct exposure to the sunlight to avoid damage. Acrylic paint can soften in high heat. Do not frame canvas pieces under glass as this can trap moisture. It is also best not to cover with plastic for long periods of time as this can lead to mold growth in humid areas.

When handling your painting it is best to avoid touching the front and back of the painting to avoid paint flaking, cracking or dents to the surface. Hold the painting by the sides with clean hands or gloves. Do not lean anything against the canvas. Even light pressure can cause damage to the canvas. When transporting carefully wrap the painting in materials that will cushion, absorb impacts or punctures, and prevent moisture damage.

Additional Info

It is a good idea to check your artwork regularly for any signs of damage. This may include dampness or discoloration. Be sure to check the back of the artwork as well, as the back of the artwork may show damage first.

It is best to avoid smoking around all artwork.
