welcome.

Jen Kemmett is an artist specializing in graphite portraits. They hold a special place in her heart, as she just loves seeing a person’s face come to life on paper. She applies many techniques when drawing, but prefers to use the shading method called circulism. This involves drawing tiny circles repeatedly to create a realistic skin texture. She also loves exploring other mediums, like acrylic paint, gouache, and colored pencils.

As a child, she was always encouraged to draw by family and friends. Jen was the girl who carried a sketchbook everywhere. She took art classes throughout high school, but did not pursue art at a higher level. Considered to be self-taught, she has no regrets, as she feels with enough practice and determination you can teach yourself just about anything.

Life has also blessed her with three beautiful children and a wonderful husband. She enjoys nature, animals, trying to keep her plants alive, and never passes up the chance to view a beautiful sunset. Jen currently works from her home studio in beautiful northern Michigan.
